What were you doing pre Mossman & how did you get to the point of becoming Creative Director at Mossman? I was living in New York pre Mossman for a few years, it has always been a dream of mine to experience the fashion industry in NY. I was fortunate to be exposed to so many facets of the fashion world in such an iconic city and loved my job, but nothing beats home. I was originally employed as a designer at Mossman and did that role for a few years and then the opportunity to buy the business came up and I did so with my business partner who also worked for Mossman at the time. We had a great relationship and connected on all levels and just understood each other. But most importantly we shared the same goals, morals and values and the rest is history.
What has been a career highlight to date? There are so many, but one that stands out first is when Jennifer Hawkins wore our red jumpsuit at the Myer fashion runway a few years ago. It is always impossible to get Jen to wear your product so it was definitely a great feeling. When we met her after the show she said to me she loved the jumpsuit and the fit was amazing and that in itself says hard work pays off.
Who are you designing for and how do you come up with new inspo & ideas each collection? I love designing for all women, no matter the age or body shape. I want every woman to know they can purchase from Mossman as we cater to all. I get a lot of my inspo from travelling, and I love people watching down the street, looking at what they’re wearing. I also love going to the fabric market in China and touching and feeling fabrics, it gets me so excited and a lot of my creativity stems from that also.
